Manipulative Narratives: Aging, Introversion & Why Supergirl Failed
Bruce and Jay are back from a break! Jay takes their mom to Essence Fest in New Orleans and comes home with a story about a stranger that neither of them saw coming. Bruce spends his 46th birthday doing absolutely nothing on purpose, and it forces a question he did not expect to ask himself about who he is becoming as he gets older.
Then the conversation turns to Supergirl. The movie took hits online before anyone even sat down to watch it, the box office numbers are rough, and the reasons why go a lot deeper than good or bad filmmaking. Bruce breaks down the one thing he would have fixed, Jay pushes back with the view from the editing chair, and together they get into who really gets uncomfortable when a woman leads the story.
